Welcome to the start of the 2017-18 hockey season. The information provided is designed to communicate what will take place throughout the tryout process. This will include the tryout schedule, registration process, skills and scrimmages, scoring by evaluators, team selections, and tryouts for missing or injured players, and grievances regarding team selections.
The purpose of hockey tryouts is to group players by ability. The objective is to provide an appropriate level of competition for each player that will challenge their skills and increase their knowledge and enjoyment of the game.
Due to the competitive nature of tryouts, players should make sure they are well rested and arrive at the tryout session at least 30 minutes early. Attendance at a pre-season clinic and dry land training is recommended but not required.
Parents, please be advised that you will not be allowed in the arena area. You should remain in the designated areas (lobby) and refrain from discussion with evaluators and / or coaches. Also, please do not make comments to, coach, or cheer for the players on the ice.
The best thing you can do for your child is to be positive, encouraging and accepting of decisions made!
If you have any questions before or during the tryout process, please direct them to the Vice President or any member of the HDC.
